Corrosion Protection

The new sol-gel coatings show excellent characteristics in regards of corrosion resistance. This silica-based hybrid sols bound chemical covalent to the surface and form a dense, uniform and defect free physical barrier.

The coatings can be applied with traditional methods. However, some of the coatings require stove enameling at 160°C.

The coatings adhere very well on different substrates (metals, glass, ceramics and polymers) and are significantly thinner than conventional paint materials. The salt spray test experiment show excellent corrosion resistance above 2000 hours on aluminum with coating thickness of 5 microns and without chromate .
