Heavy corrosion protection
Palladin Series is a pigmented version of BaseCoat U-Sil 100. The Palladin coating is used for heavy corrosion protection on carbon steels. A conventional anti-corrosion construction according to DIN EN ISO 12944-5 typically consists of an epoxy zinc powder primer, 1-2 intermediate coatings (epoxy micaceous iron oxide) and a color-isocyanate 2K polyurethane topcoat. Overall, this dry film thickness reaches 350 - 460 microns.
The cost ratios between material and personnel costs in the industrial coating of objects are approximately 5-10% of material and personnel costs 90-95%.
Furthermore, many systems are still using solvent-based and therefore are not environmentally friendly.
Alternatives nano-layers
The alternative new coating system based on chemical nanotechnology allows at least identical or even significantly better corrosion resistance - with 2 layers only. The novel Nano Primer (with a solids content of about 95%) shows the desired corrosion protection with a layer thickness of only 100 microns and a 2K polyurethane topcoat (approx. 80μm) brings the desired look.
